Why do I bother?

I sometimes wonder why I keep running into people that don't want to leave their safety zones. I seem to run into these types of people on a regular basis and try as I may - I will never understand it.

I have a friend that I have known for years. She wants to do missionary work over in Africa, but I can guarantee you in ten years she will still be sitting there talking about how much she wants to do it and she won't have gotten over there yet.

I've encouraged her, helped her find information on going, even suggested that she start small and try some volunteer work in our local area, but each time she will have an excuse as to why she can't do it.

Her first excuse was that she had children, so of course she couldn't leave them. Only now they are all grown and at college so she is by herself.

Then it became that she didn't have the money to go - only her church wants workers to go over there --- so all she would have to do is show up on the day of departure and she could be on her way ---- so now her excuse is that she wants a man to go with her.

The current reason is that she wants to find her soulmate and he will want to go - and so they will go together....if she ever finds him.

My latest arguement to her was ---- what if she is suppose to meet her soulmate over there and she won't meet him because she never goes over there?

She couldn't answer that one right away, but did finally say she was dating someone and maybe he would be the one to go with her....

Wanna bet in a month or so - she has another excuse?
