some people!

My blood pressure is still up because of something that happened to me today. I had an interview with a potential client. I am a Pet Sitter when I am not working on the great American novel! This couple called me yesterday - wanted me to come out today because they need someone to sit their new puppy on the days that they work late. It sounded like a fun job, so I moved some things around and at the appointed time - off to their home I went. The wife was very nice, very proud of their new little bundle of fur. A cute puppy - would be much fun to play with! The husband said not a word during the whole process...until....I produce a contract. I am a business afterall --- I have a business license, I have insurance, I pay taxes on the money I make! He can't believe I have a contract they need to sign. We got a bit of a round about that, but he finally signs it. Then - the wife and I are discussing my schedule for the coming week and out of the blue - he wants references. Now, I don't have a problem with this --- but don't have me come out to spend an hour at your house if you don't plan to actually hire me! He could have asked for the references yesterday - instead he pulls this after I spend almost an hour talking with his wife about how she wants the sit to be done. I should have suspected something when they didn't have a key ready for me. If you ever plan to hire a sitter--- make sure you already have a key for them! You may not realize it - but if you forget the key or it doesn't fit the lock- your pet will be stuck in that house until either the sitter can get ahold of you or they have to call a locksmith...and you REALLY don't want to pay for that! Augh!

They say....

They say that when you turn 40 you are entering the best years of your life, but I wonder - isn't that the same thing they told you back when you were in High School? I turned 40 the other day. Yep, the big 4-0. So far...it sucks. I woke up the other morning and realized I have no clue as to how I got here. Where did all those years go? Why am I living the life I am living instead of the life I want? In other words - here I am 40 years into life and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I wonder if anyone knows what they really want out of life? If so - how did they figure it out? What's the secret? I only wish I knew.

Curling

Sushi says: I fell into the Olympic trap today and watch about an hour and a half of curling. I got the general idea of how the game works, but it ended with me still being clueless about the scoring. My thought - while I watched was...who came up with this game? Who decided to have a giant bulleyes and slide large round objects across the ice trying to hit it and knock the other teams "rocks" out of the circle? Why do they call them rocks? Fascinating game, but rather strange!

ultrasound

Sushi says: I have a fibroid tumor and next Tuesday I am suppose to get an ultrasound to see what is happening with it. It's not a hard 'test' --- just rub the little device over your tummy and your good to go, but I just don't want to do it. It will just confirm it is still there. Hopefully, it will not be any bigger, but I can tell it is still there. :-(

EBay!

Sushi says: I am trying to learn the secret to EBay. I have decided jumping through all their hoops is about like trying to buy a house. Lots of little words in little type that you're afraid to overlook, but sorting through all of it will give you a horrible migraine! Anyway, I think I jumped through the latest hoop - now I have to figure out what stuff I want to try to get listed. I guess that will give me more hoops to jump through. We shall see!

The day after...

Sushi says: I hope that everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Mine was okay as far as holidays go. I gave up expecting them to ever be perfect the way I think they should be. I have a friend, who to hear her tell it - her husband is a Saint when it comes to these occasions. He is the type that remembers to make the reservations, brings home the flowers, cooks her dinner. I won't say my husband doesn't do some of this, but planning special events - just doesn't seem to be his forte. We ended up at Red Lobster. She, meanwhile I am sure, probably dined at some fancy restraunt that her husband made reservations for over a month ago. I've avoided calling her today - hearing her Valentines story versus mine - would just make my life seem so...ordinairy...

In the beginning...

Sushi says: What is it with the television networks these days?

We have DirectTv, which has - what? 500 or more channels? If this is the case, why is everything that is on either reality tv or a rerun?

Not that I have anything against reality tv. I love The Amazing Race, The Apprentice, heck I even got hung up on Joe Millionaire, but it just seems like the more channels we get - the less there is to watch. Am I right? Today's fortune cookie - Never trouble trouble til trouble troubles you!
